Allah’s Generosity with His Servants

What Allah (swt) Gives He Does Not Take Back

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,

nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta'ala al-`Azheem fee hadha 'l-masjid.

أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.

Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) gave honor to this Ummah by the honor of the Prophet (s). Allah (swt) said:

Al-izzatu lillah wa li rasoolihi wali ‘l-mu’mineen.

Great honor is for Allah and for the Prophet (s) and for the Believers (and Muslims).

You must know that when Allah honors someone He does not take it back, even with what you do of sins, as the hasanaat is still there.

إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّـيِّئَاتِ

Inna ‘l-hasanaat yudhhibna ‘s-sayyi’aat.

Good deeds waive the sins. (Surah Hud, 11:114)

The good deeds, hasanaat, take over the bad deeds, sayyi’aat/sins, but never sayyi’aat take over the hasanaat. Did you understand? When Allah (swt) gives, He gives generously without limits and does not take back! One of His Beautiful Names is al-Kareem, The One Who Gives and does not take it back. So it is mentioned very subtlely in verses of Holy Qur'an that Allah gives and does not take, and Allah (swt) will make it more for you, for Ummat an-Nabi (s). If you do something good it will remain and it does not go, because inna al-hasanaat yudhhibna as-sayyi’aat, “The good deeds take away the bad deeds, but the bad deeds don't overtake the good.” The hasanaat is there for you, but the sayyi’aat is also there somewhere in the corner, under the building, Allah hides them somewhere.

Allah is as-Sattar, “The Veiler,” He never exposes anyone, He covers their mistakes and does not take their hasanaat. When it is between you and Allah (swt) whatever hasanaat you did is there and whatever good you did will erase sayyi’aat, but whatever sayyi’aat you do cannot erase hasanaat. This is an important equation to show the Greatness of Allah (swt): when He gives, He gives and it is for you until the Day of Judgement. The good erases the bad, but bad does not erase the good! The sayyi’aat are there and are erased with istighfaar, but the hasanaat will not disappear because of the sayyi’aat. That is there in Akhirah; that is between you and Allah (swt). Allah (swt) honored this Ummah with such things we don't know. That equation just came by inspiration from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q).

Sins Against Others That Allah (swt) Cannot Waive

But if there is something (conflict) between you and an `abd, that is dangerous. If you sinned, Allah Ghafoorun Raheem, but if you backbited someone, that person might take your hasanaat, because Allah asks both the oppressed and the oppressor. Allah asks the oppressed to forgive his brother, as they both are Allah’s servants and He cares for both. The oppressed says, laa yaa Rabbee, “No my Lord, I need my rights upheld!” Then Allah gives the hasanaat of the oppressor to the oppressed and you lose your hasanaat in this way!

Where there is `amr shakhsee, a personal matter, between the oppressor and whom they oppressed, then Allah will take the hasanaat of the oppressor and give to the oppressed until all the good deeds of the oppressor are gone, and at that point Allah (swt) says, “Is it not enough?” and he says, “No, yaa Rabb I am not satisfied as he destroyed my reputation! He was so bad with me that I cannot carry it and I want my right. If I was wrong, okay, but in my opinion I was not. Yaa Rabbee, You know best.”

Allah will tell him to forgive, it is enough, but the oppressed will say, “No, yaa Rabb, I want my full rights!” Awliyaullah say, “Yaa Rabbee, I am satisfied, I don’t need anything from anyone.” That is the difference between them and the rest.

So when the oppressed says that he wants more, then Allah begins to put the oppressed one’s sayyi`aat on the oppressor and load him with all those sins. Allah then asks the oppressed one to forgive the oppressor, but the oppressed one says no, and Allah takes the sins of the oppressed one and dumps them on the oppressor, and Allah sends the oppressed one to Paradise! Then Allah turns to the oppressor and says to him, “I am merciful to my slave and I forgive you,” and sends him to Paradise also, alhamdulillah, but he will be ashamed in front of Allah (swt) on Judgment Day of how he did that and said those things falsely. He will feel ashamed in that position.

Alhamdulillah, Allah gave honor to Believers. He said:

وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Wa L’iLlahi ’l-`izzatu lillah wa li rasoolihi wali ‘l-mu’mineen.

But honour belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Believers, (Surat al-Munaafiqoon, 63:8)

“Great honor is for Allah and for the Prophet (s) and for the Believers (and Muslims).” And we have been honored by a shaykh that guided us and is still guiding us wherever he is, in Paradise or Barzakh, to the love of Allah (swt) and the Prophet (s). That is Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil (q) and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q)! Those of the Wahhabi mentality, why dig deeper? Allah will forgive. When Allah opens His Paradise, is it to fill it or not? Allah wants to fill it up as Paradise is to enjoy Allah’s mercy and does His mercy have limits or no limits? It has no limits, for sure, as Allah’s mercy is big! That is why from His Mercy He made us from Ummat an-Nabi (s) and if we were not from Ummat an-Nabi (s) there would be a big question mark.

Allah rewards you for coming here to commemorate `Ashoora, an important day in Islamic history, that reminds us how much cruelty they did to the Family of the Prophet (s). May Allah (swt) take away all cruelty from us, may Allah bless us more and more with the barakah of Sayyidina Husayn (a). That barakah cannot be limited! Every drop of blood coming out of Sayyidina al-Husayn is like an ocean of mercy for the Ummah and every drop coming out is saying, “Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah!” calling on his grandfather (s)! Allah knows best what was the wisdom and how it happened; we don't interfere and put our finger on what happened there (open fitna), but we say we are with Sayyidina Husayn (a) at his threshold under his feet! We love Ahlu ’l-Bayt, Sayyidina al-Husayn (a), Sayyida Fatima (a), his mother and our mother, Sayyida `Ayesha (r) and Sayyida Khadijah (r), Sayyidina `Ali (a) and all Sahaabah (r) of the Prophet (s), and Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) and Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Uthman (r). They all gave their lives for the Prophet (s). Some did this way or that, but it is not for us to judge as they know better. The whole skies, the stars and universe, and Heavens and Earth were crying for Sayyidina al-Husayn (a) and for all the children of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). May Allah keep us with them dunya and Akhirah.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
