Anyone Who Dies Believing Allah Has No Partner

Will Enter Paradise

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

12 July 2013 Burton, Michigan

(Du`a of Khutbah)

Wa nashadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadu ‘r-Rasoolullah.

O Mu'mins, Believers, Muslims! What Allah (swt) likes most from His servant is to declare His Oneness. Allah doesn't like any partner. He is the Creator and we are His servants. The servant always has to say, “Sami`na wa ata`naa yaa Rabbee, ghufraanaka Rabbanaa wa ilayk al-maseer.” He likes to hear this from us, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah,” to declare His Oneness with every `amal we do. Allah (swt) does not like shirk, He will forgive anything except shirk. If you put all the `amal, the best that you did, on one side of the Scale and shirk on the other, shirk will be heavier. It will take you to punishment and all of your `amal will disappear! For that reason, at the end of prayer before saying salaams, we say Shahadah, “There is no Creator but You, O Allah! There is no God but you, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah.”

Ataanee Jibreel fa qaal bashshir ummataka, annahu man maata min ummatika laa yushriku bi-Llaahi shay’an dakhal al-jannah. Qultu: yaa Jibreel! wa in saraqa wa in zaana? Qaala: n`am. Qultu: wa in saraqa wa in zaana? Qaala: n`am. Qultu: wa in saraqa wa in zaana? Qaala: n`am. Wa in sharib al-khamr.

The Prophet (s) said, “Give good tidings to your Nation! I am telling you from now to give them good tidings, let them be happy. If anyone of them dies as muwaahid, didn’t make shirk, laa yushriku bi-Llaahi shay’an, didn’t make any partner to Allah or didn’t make anyone special as ilah.” (It means you can praise Prophet (s) as much as you like, but he is Allah’s servant, `abd.) “He who recognizes that there is no ilah except Allah (swt) and didn’t associate anyone with Allah (swt) as partner, will enter Paradise.”

It is so easy. So what do we have to say every day? “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah.” It is very simple: say it before you sleep, when you work, whenever you have time, or in the morning when you wake up. Say it: Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah!

The Prophet (s) said, “I said, ‘Even if that person is a thief or doing adultery (he would enter Paradise)?’ (Meaning if that person says, ‘Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadu ‘r-Rasoolullah,’ what will be the consequences? Will he enter Paradise?”) He answered, “Yes, he will enter Paradise, even if he steals and makes adultery.”

This does not mean that you go and make adultery or steal, but it is a teaching by Prophet (s) to show how much important Tawheed is in Islam, to keep the principle of Tawheed in their hearts.

Then the Prophet (s) confirmed a second time, “Even if a thief and adulterer?” and Jibreel (a) said, “Yes,” and a third time he confirmed, “Even if he steals and is an adulterer?” and Jibreel (a) said, “Yes.” Then he added, wa in sharib al-khamr, “Even if he drinks wine.” (narrated by as-Suyuti and Ibn Hibban in Musnad Ahmad, at-Tirmidhi and an-Nasaa’ee.

Jibreel (as) added after the third time, “Even if he drinks wine” (meaning he drinks but he repents.) And this is the month of repentance, this is Ramadan, the month for the ummah!

Now we want to hear what Imam Bukhari (q) said. In a narration by both Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim:

Aataanee Jibreel (a) fa bashsharanee annahu man maata min ummatika laa yushriku bi-Llaahi shay’an dakhal al-jannah. Qultu: wa in zaana wa in saraqa? Qaala: wa in zaana wa in saraq.

Abu Hurayrah (r) said that Prophet (s) said: Jibreel (a) came to me and gave me good tidings, “Verily, he who died amongst your Ummah without associating anything with Allah would enter Paradise.” I asked, “Even if he committed adultery and theft?” He said, “(Yes), even if he committed adultery and theft.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Here is a secret, where Jibreel (a) is telling the Prophet (s), “Give good tidings to your ummah that they will go to Paradise when they die, as long as they do not make shirk.” So Prophet (s) asked from the mercy that he wants for his ummah, otherwise, those who commit adultery or steal would have been punished! Prophet (s) asked from the rahmah and intercession that Allah (swt) gave to him to put that question in order to make it easy for his ummah to enter Paradise by repenting from (having committed) stealing and adultery.

رجب شهر الله، وشعبان شهري، ورمضان شهر أمتي

Rajabun shahrullah wa Sha`baanu shahree wa Ramadaanu shahra ummatee.

Rajab is Allah's month, Sha`baan is my month and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah.

(Abul-Fath ibn Abi Fawaris in his `Amalee from al-Hasan)

Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha`ban is the month of Prophet (s) and Ramadan is the month of the ummah. So this is the month of repentance. The first ten days of Ramadan is rahmah. Look forward to getting that rahmah inshaa-Allah, as we are in the first ten days.

Aataanee Jibreel fa-qaala yaa muhammad `ish maa shi'ta fa innaka mayyitun wa ahbib maa shi’ta fa-innaka mufaariquhu wa `amal maa shi’ta fa-innaka majziyyun bihi w `alam anna sharafa ‘l-mu’minu qiyaamuhu bi ’l-layli wa `izzuhu istighnaa’uhu `ani ‘n-naas.

It is related from Sahl ibn Sa`d and that the Prophet (s) said:

Jibreel came to me and he said, “O Muhammad! Live as long as you want for surely you will ultimately die, and love whoever you want for surely you will leave that person, and do whatever you want for surely you will be taken into account for it, and know that the nobility of a believer comes from him praying at night, and know that his dignity comes from him not needing the charity of others.” (Haakim, Bayhaqi, Abu Na`eem in his Hilya from Sayyidina `Ali (r) and Sahl bin Sa`d[r])

“Know that you may live as long as you live, but you are going to die.” People like to live as much as they like, but one day they are going to die. You don’t know how you will die as it will be sudden, so be careful in what you are doing. May Allah forgive us from our sins.

“And love whom you want to love, but one day you are leaving that one you love and going.” It is not going to be forever for you. You love your wife or your wife loves you, or you love your children, but one of them is going to leave before the other.

Jibreel (s) said to Prophet (s), “Tell your ummah to love whom you like, but be sure to put in your mind that one day you are going to leave whom you love.” (You cannot take them with you, unless you have good `amal and then you meet them in Paradise or Barzakh.) Then he said, “Do what you like of your `amal. If you do good you will be rewarded, if you do bad you will get punishment. Know that the honor of the believer is to be up at night worshipping Allah (swt) and his honor is not to depend on people, but to depend only on Allah.”

Allah likes Qiyaamu ‘l-Layl. May Allah (swt) give us power to wake up at night!

O Mu’mins, Muslims! This is the month of repentance. We must make sure to repent as Allah (swt) will forgive us and give us the best of dunya and Akhirah.
