Love of Ahlu ‘l-Bayt is the Key to Every Goodness

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

27 June, 2013 London, UK

Khatm and Suhbah at Manor House, Feltham

Sayyidina Muhammad (s) said:

إنما الأعمال بالنيات

Innama al-`amaalu bi ’n-niyyaat

Verily actions are by intentions. Bukhari and Muslim

Every `amal is according to the intention: if our intention is Allah and his Prophet, fa hijratuna, ila maa hajarnaa ilayh wa man kaanat hijratuhu ill-Allahi wa rasoolihi fa hijratuhu ila-Allahi wa Rasoolih. If someone decided to migrate to Allah and his Prophet Allah will write for him that reward and here it means that anyone who wants to migrate from `amali 'd-dunya to `amali 'l-akhirah that one will find Allah and His Prophet. So if we really want love of Allah and love of the Prophet (s), we have to move our way to the right way, the way of the Prophet (s), the way of Sahaabat an-Nabi (s), the way of Ahli Bayt an-Nabi (s) and the way of Shari`ah to move to Allah and His Prophet or to move to Allah and His lovers Allah will make us with his lovers.

Yuhshar al-maruw ma` man ahab.

Each person will be resurrected with the one he loves.

We are Ahl as-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama`ah and we are following the way of the Prophet (s). But that is not enough. The most important, yes, we are Ahl as-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama`ah, but the most important from all Shari`ah of the Prophet (s), the message that came that Sahaabah (r) were focusing all on that message and all the previous Ummahs, and you are focusing on this one thing, which is the essence of Islam, the essence of Shari`ah, the essence of ma`rifah, the essence of Irfan, the essence of everything and that is love of Ahl al-Bayt. if you have love of Ahl al-Bayt you have everything, if you don't have it you have nothing. Muslims are according to many madhahib and everyone according to his capacity according to his school of thought, is free, take what you like to take. This one says, "this is correct," so believe what you want to believe, but the belief that is going to save all of us is love of Ahl al-Bayt. Why do you come here, what makes you to come, what makes us to come? It is love to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani. Am I correct or not? And not really just love of Mawlana Shaykh but love of Ahl al-Bayt, the whole Family of the Prophet (s). And not only love of Ahl al-Bayt but love of the Prophet (s) himself. This is our belief.

If we want life and we want everlasting life, comes only from a word of two letters: "hubb.” Of course: "love." It is two letters. The 'ha' and the 'ba', and 'ha' represent hayaat and ‘ba’ represents baqaa. What gives us hayaat is Muhammad and what gives us baqaa is Muhammad. As Allah gave the hayaat to the Prophet (s) and Allah gave baqaa to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and so the trunk is one and there are many branches. take any branch it will take you to Allah and His Prophet (s). So anyone taking another way will not find Allah.

Qul laa as’alukum `alayhi ajran illaa al-mawaddata fi 'l-qurba.

Say, “O People! I am not asking anything from you (no ajar, wealth), but only to love my Family.” (Surat ash-Shoorah, 42:23)

Say to My servants, O Muhammad: this is what I want: as I love My Prophet, I want them to love his family. “Say to them: Qul!” Allah is ordering the Prophet (s) to say, "I am not asking anything from you, Allah doesn't need you, and Allah doesn't need anyone." He didn't even say "love me" lam yaqul hubb an-Nabi (s), wa laakin qaddama hubba ahl al-bayt an-Nabi (s), li anna an-Nabi (s) kaana yuhibb al-Hasan wa ’l-Husayn. Allah put first love of Ahl al-Bayt because the Prophet (s) loved al-Hasan and al-Husayn, they were the beloved ones in his whole life, the children of his daughter; as-Sayyida Fatima az-Zahra, Wirdat al-Jinan (a) who is better than her? When the Prophet (s) sometimes comes home sad, she is the one who takes care of him, gives him a smile. When he comes tired she rubs his back and makes him happy. When he comes home, she is the first to welcome him and when he comes from a battle or trip, the first one the Prophet (s) visits is not his wives, it is Sayyida Fatima (a). So Allah made love of Allah EQUAL love of the Family of the Prophet (s).

O Muslims, believers! What is pulling us together is the love of Family of the Prophet (s) and I will ask one question and I like to see hands up. Who loves that Mahdi (a) will appear today? So what does that mean? What does that mean? It means when you have perfume you try to get the essence of the smell from deep in the flower. You take incense, perfumes. You don’t take perfume that is blended with too much oil, diluted. You try to find something that is pure: Mahabbat al-Mahdi. I wanted to say Mahabbat an-Nabi (s), but they changed my tongue. Mahabbat al-Mahdi IS love of the Prophet (s) and love of Sayyidina al-Hasan and love of Sayyidina al-Husayn and love of all the Sahaabah (r), Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), Sayyidina `Umar (r), Sayyidina `Uthman (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r). We love them all laa nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum - we don't differentiate between any one of them.

There is something buried in our hearts: hubba ahl al-bayt. hubba ahl al-bayt wajib `alaa kulli Muslim wa Muslima. And the number of letters of Ahl al-Bayt are how many? How many letters? 19 letters. 19 letters. And the numbers of Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem are how many? 19! It means Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem EQUALS Ahl al-Abaa, Ahl al-Bayt.

Kullu amrin dhi baalin laa yabtada bi Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem fa huwa aqta` aw fahuwa abtar.

To act on any matter that comes to your mind that does not begin with Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem is cut off.

It means whatever deed is begun without Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem is cut, has no fruit." And [I say] "Any `amal which is done without any love of Ahl al-Bayt is also cut off." Any `amal done without blending the love of Ahl al-Bayt is cut off. The Prophet (s) said, “Everyone will be with the one he loves.” If you love Ahl al-Bayt that is good but if you don’t then who cares for you. Allah is saying it, so if you don't want it you don't want it. As if the Prophet (s) is saying: I am not asking to be paid back, but I am only asking you to love them. That means, [as if] Allah is saying: if you don't care, if you don't love Ahl al-Bayt you are not going to benefit anything.

.

[Shaykh Ali Elsayed sings about love of the Prophet (s).]

It is our hope and intention to see the light of Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as) Allahuma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad (s) wa `alaa aali Sayyidina Muhammad (s). The Prophet (s) asked the Sahaabah (r) "man ashadu ’n-naasi imaanan? - who are the ones with strongest faith?" qaaloo ya rasoolullah al-malaa’ikat - they said, "angels." Because they see that angels are worshiping and no sins, they are infallible. They have no sins, always they are in prayers and they are seeing them that they have been ordered an order that no one has been ordered like that order. Might be there are, let us say for example, billion, trillion, 10 times on trillion angels are making that prayer, different ones make that prayer and different things they are doing. And as he reminded just now, some angels are in ruk`oo, some are in qiyaam, some are sitting, and some are doing this and some doing that;. We don't know but all of them on one subject they follow, in common between them: what is that? It is salawaat on the Prophet (s). And you cannot make salawaat on the Prophet (s) without adding his family at the end. Whatever seegha you use you must mention Allahuma salli `alaa Muhammad wa `alaa aali Muhammad. So these angels what are they doing? They are reciting salawaat on the Prophet (s) and no his family. O ye who believe pray on him.

If we recite salawaat on the Prophet (s) we will be written with the angels and if we don't add salawaat on His Family our salawaat is naaqisa, it is missing something. And in their Islamic Encyclopedia, they have to add what kind of salawaat are the angels making. Na`rif Salawaat al-ibrahimiyya hal yuqbal ann Allah yu'mar al-malaaikat bi salaatin waahid? If you think about it according to Allah's Greatness, angels have been ordered to do salawaat on the Prophet (s), but not the same, no photocopy. It might be there is a big machine there making photocopy of salawaat. Every angels has his own salawaat to show the Greatness of Allah and show the Greatness that Allah showed to the Prophet (s) by each angel making different salawaat on the Prophet (s) and every salawaat of every angel differs from the prior salawaat. The second different from the first and the third different from the second. this is for all angels from the beginning when there was no beginning and to the time there is end. He is al-Khaaliq, the Creator, means He is continuously creating so for sure when angels make salawaat they are making salawaat on His Family as they are distributed among the Ummah all over, from beginning to end, til Judgment Day there are descendants of the Prophet (s), either Hasani or Husayni or Hasani-Husayni, throughout the world. Through their baraka Allah is saving the whole universe.

The word mawaddah, love, needs books in Arabic to explain. What is mawaddah? It is to give our life in love of Ahl al-Bayt! If Sayyidina al-Husayn gave his life to Ummat an-Nabi (s) must we not give our lives for love of the Prophet (s) and His Family? Else we are ungrateful. Ungrateful is with all that comes with it, ungrateful for whatever Allah gave us, even our breath, that is our life, because for every breath coming in and going out we must be thankful to Allah swt that He makes us to breathe in and breathe out in love of the Prophet."

`An ibn `Abbas annahu qaala li-julasaa’ihi yawman: Ayyu’n-naasi a`ajabu imaanan, qaaloo al-malaa’ikah. Qaala: Wa kayfa laa tu’min al-malaa’ikata wa ’l-amru fawqahum yarawnahu. Qaaloo: al-anbiyaa. Qaala wa kayfa laa yu’min al-anbiyaa wa ’l-amr yanzil `alayhim ghadwatan wa `ashiyya? Qaaloo: fa-nahnu? Qaala: wa kayfa laa tu’minoona wa antum tarawna min rasoolillahi maa tarawn? Thumma qaala: Qaala Rasoolullahi: a`ajaba ’n-naasi imaanan qawmun yaatoona min ba`dee yuminoon bee wa lam yarawnee. Oolaa’ika ikhwaanee haqqan.

The Prophet (s) asked the Sahaabah (r), “Who has the strongest faith in their heart?” They answered, “The Prophets!” Prophet (s) said, “How will they not have strong faith when revelation comes to them?” They said, “Then it is the angels!” Prophet (s) said, “How will they not have strong faith when they are in the Divine Presence?” They answered, “Us, your Sahaabah!” Prophet (s) said, “How will they not have strong faith when you also see me?” He (s) said, “The best of people will come at the End of Time, and they will not see me but they still believe in me. They are my brothers, truly.” (Sahih Bukhari)

At first they said, “angels.” The most astonishing type of creation are the angels. They said to the Prophet (s). the Prophet (s) said, “What are you saying? How are angels not going to be grateful and have strong faith when they see what they are seeing in Paradise and they are doing salawaat non-stopping on the Prophet (s), timeless there is no day and night in Paradise”. Then they said, "Ya Rasoolallah. The prophets!" and he said, "how are the prophets not going to have strong faith when they are receiving the message and seeing angels and Angel Gibril bringing the message?" And so they said, "ok, then is it us, ya Rasoolullah?" In Nelson accent "oos ya Rasoolullah?" US? Nahnu ya Rasoolullah. And kayf, how you dare to say this of course you are having strong iman as I am between you. So the Sahaabah (r) were mutahayyar, astonished, not knowing what to say, and the Prophet (s) said yuminoon bee wa lam yarawnee, there are a people coming at end of the world and they believe in me and they never saw me. This is you! This is Ummat an-Nabi (s) that is now. that is you who believe in the Prophet (s) and they never saw the Prophet (s). On top of that a group like you, who have been prepared for many many years! Since I was a child I was waiting for Sayyidina al-Mahdi (a) this group of us and others who are raising the name of al-Mahdi high are higher than every other ones, they are going to be like stars on Judgment Day.

Afdal al-`ibaadah, intizhaar al-faraj.

The best of worship is to await an opening (relief) from difficulty. (Tirmidhi)

So if you for one second or one moment during your day and come to you, yaa Rasoolullah, I am waiting, that is enough to let you be with Mahdi (as) and if you die before his appearance you will be with him in Barzakh. That is from one moment thinking that "ya laytanee an akoona ma`ahu - if only I could be with him?" Allah swt will provide you a way out, awliyaullah say, that everyone now, as for example they say “someone is coming” and you are standing on your feet for hours, as in parade, then when approaching close you are standing on your toes waiting in anticipation for that appearance. Look how awliyaullah they are standing on their tip toes waiting for the appearance of Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as) Look now in the Muslim world, Arab countries they say ‘Arab Spring’. No it is ‘Mahdi's Spring’ as all this is preparation for the appearance of al-Mahdi (as). There are so many books written on appearance of Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as).

“Laa taqoom as-sa`atu hattaa yamla al-arda zhulman wa `udwaana qaala thumma yakhruj rajulun min `itratee aw min Ahli Baytee yamloohaa qistan wa `adlan kamaa muliyat zhulman wa `udwaana.

The Prophet (s) said, The Hour will not dawn until the earth is filled with injustice and oppression and miseries. Then one of my descendants will come forth, filling the earth with justice and righteousness as it was filled with injustice and oppression and miseries.” (Imam Ahmad)

Today darkness and oppression are filling the Earth.

Inna min asharaat is-sa`at an yurfa`u ’l-`ilm.

Knowledge will be lifted up.

And from Signs of Last Days is that knowledge is raised up and darkness and ignorance are filling the Earth. Sahaabah (r) said is that due to Quran being raised up? and the Prophet (s) said, no but `ulama will die and no one comes to replace them. So you see now all kinds of conferences today:

وأما الآثار فقد قال عمر رضي الله عنه‏:‏ إن أخوف ما أخاف على هذه الأمة المنافق العليم‏.‏ قالوا‏:‏ وكيف يكون منافقاً عليماً قال‏:‏ عليم اللسان جاهل القلب والعمل‏.‏

Akhwafa maa akhaafu `alaa ummatee munaafiqun `aleemu'l-lisaan jahoolun bi ’l-qalb.

The thing I fear most for my Nation is a hypocrite eloquent of tongue and ignorant in his heart.

Look for any scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama`ah, is anyone speaking of Sayyidina al-Mahdi? And look from Ahl ash-Shi`a their food is Mahdi (a), their drink is al-Mahdi (a) and their thinking is about al-Mahdi (a). Why are our scholars not speaking up? They must speak about what they know, that is an order from the Prophet (s). Except for spiritual secrets. But what they know they are not mentioning. what we understand when we read something, it is different the interpretation which we have, and they say this is interpretation. There is the verse:

وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُ إِلاَّ اللّهُ وَالرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ رَبِّنَا

Wa maa ya`alamu taaweelahu illa Allah, wa ’r-raasikhoona fi ’l-`ilm yaqoolooona aamanaa bihi kullun min `indi rabbinaa.

But no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:"

Why do we stop on the half: wa laa ya`alamu taweelahu illa Allah, we can read wa laa ya`alamu taweelahu illa Allah wa’r-aasikhoon fil -ilm yaqoolooon aamanaa bihi kullun min `indi rabbinaa.

(Surat Aali-`Imran, 3:7)

When Gibril came to the Prophet (s), and said, 'Kaf', the Prophet(s) said, “`alimtu, I knew it.”

Allah said in Holy Qur'an "no one knows the interpretation of Holy Qur'an except Allah AND those who are well established in knowledge." Who are ar-raasikhoon fi 'l-`ilm? Those are Ahl al-Bayt. Sometimes you miss the point. If I have some money and there is thief here and I go and give him the money, what will you say? You say "He doesn't deserve it." If I see a lady who is bad, and I want to give sadaqa and I go, give that lady that money what will people say? "not good." We think that they are bad people. But what did the Prophet (s) say? This is what he (s) says. This is to tell us that not everything we see with our eyes is the truth. We are blind. There has to be interpretation, even on every word and ayah of Holy Qur'an and hadith.

anna rasoolullah qaal: qaala rajulun la atasadaqu sadaqatan fa kharaja wa wad`ahu fee yadi saariq. A man said, "I am going to give charity" and went out of his home and put the money in the hand of a thief. And when we look at it it seems bad. And he said, "Allahuma laka al-hamd." When he gave the sadaqa he didn't really intend to put it in the hand of a thief and it was the hand of a thief, and it might be he didn't know it is a thief, and the people said, "You put the money in the hand of a thief" and he said, "O Allah praise be to You." And he said, "la-atasadaqa sadaqatun wa kharaja fa wada`ahu fee yadi zaaniyatan - I am going to give sadaqa" and he went out and gave the money to a prostitute, a zaaniya, who makes adultery. So they began to talk about him in the morning and the people began to say that this man is giving his money to a prostitute. First a thief then a prostitute! If someone did that today what will they say about him? They will think bad. That is a good answer. So he said, "Allahuma laka al-hamdu `alaa zaaniya. O Allah praise be to You that I gave to a prostitute. What can I do?" Then then he said, "I am now going to go out and give a charity" and he went out and put money in the hand of a rich man. First a thief, then a prostitute and now a rich man. And the people of the town began to say "O the shaykh put money in the hand of rich man."

This is just like the joke, where it is said people came to a wali and brought him a bucket of gold coins and said "give it out," and he went to rich people and gave it to them in large amounts and when it was nearly finished he went and gave the remainder to the poor. and the people said, what are you doing?" He said, "look Allah gave more to the rich and less to the poor." So that is wilaya, he is a wali.

And [continuing the hadith] the man said,"Alhamdulillah praise to Allah for a thief, a prostitute and a rich man." Then a voice came to him, he heard, either from an angel or a wali or a prophet: they came to him and said, fa amma sadaqatu `an saariqin fa la`alla sadaqatuka yasta`iffa `an siraaqatih. "As for your charity to the thief it maybe that it makes him feel shy and cause him to stop stealing." It means that Allah made you to put that money in hand of the thief, in order to change him. That is good money so it helped to change him so don’t look where you are putting your sadaqa. And as for the prostitute, she might stop doing adultery by the baraka of that money you give. Allahu akbar, allahuma salli `alaa Muhammad wa `alaa aali Muhammad. As for the rich one, it might be he takes an example that Allah is sending him sadaqa to remind him to give sadaqa and that reminds him to give sadaqa.

And who narrated that hadith, as they might come and say ‘That is a weak hadith’? We want only Bukhari and Muslim.’This is narrated by Bukhari. May Allah open our hearts to love of Allah (swt) and love of the Prophet (s) and love of Ahl al-Bayt and love of Mahdi (a) and love of each other.

Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
