Fear Allah (swt) and obey Him. </span><span class="c1">Taqwa</span><span class="c3">, to be righteous, is the title of Islam. Without </span><span class="c1">taqwa </span><span class="c3">religion is absent from the heart. Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an:</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0 c4"><span class="c10">يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Yaa ayyuhalladheena aamanoo 'ttaqoollaah wa koonoo ma` as-saadiqeen</span><span class="c3">.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are pious (in word and deed).</span><span class="c3"> </span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c3">(Surat at-Tawbah, 9:119)</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">Fear Allah (swt) and be aware of His Punishment and Love! All prophets on the Day of Judgment will come in the Divine Presence shivering, afraid of what Allah (swt) will do to them, and they will come to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) with all their nations asking for </span><span class="c1">shifa`ah</span><span class="c3">!</span><span class="c3"> We are lucky because Allah (swt) gave us Islam as our religion. </span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">نَّ الدِّينَ عِندَ اللّهِ الإِسْلاَمُ</span><p><p class="c0 c8"><span class="c1">Inna ad-deena `inda Allaahi al-islaam.</span><p><p class="c0 c8"><span class="c1">The religion in Allah’s view is Islam (submission to His Will). </span><span class="c3">(Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:19) </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">That is an honor enough for Muslims, and to know that the religion before Allah (swt) is Islam. And what is Islam? There are millions and millions of books written on Islam. With all our respect to what else is written, Islam is simply obedience to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s), where Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an: </span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Ati`oollaaha wa ati`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. </span><span class="c3">(Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">O</span><span class="c3">bey Allah (swt). Obedience! So you cannot make a conspiracy or commit a sin and say, “I am obeying Allah.” Allah (swt) is saying, “Obey Allah, obey Me!” That means obey every order in the Holy Qur'an, which we have to do and whatever is forbidden we have to stop doing. </span><span class="c1">Wa ati`ur-rasool</span><span class="c3">, “And o</span><span class="c3">bey the Prophet (s).” People might ask, where in Holy Qur'an is it mentioned? </span><p><p class="c5 c0 c13"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c4 c0 c13"><span class="c10">وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Wa maataakumu ’r-rasoolu fakhudhoohu wa maa nahaakum `anhu fantahoo.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Leave what Prophet forbade and take what he ordered. </span><span class="c3"> (Surat al-Hashr, 59:7) </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">W</span><span class="c3">hatever the Prophet (s) brings you, you must take it and do it; that means outside the Holy Qur'an, whatever Prophet gave do it and whatever he prohibited is forbidden.</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">And so we are not saying we are perfect, but we must try and we need scholars to explain to us. Not everything we do is correct, and if we have doubt we must clear it up and have </span><span class="c1">taqwa</span><span class="c3">. And Allah (swt) is saying, “Fear Allah (swt) and be aware of His Love and Punishment, and be with His Friends.” Accompany the good ones, not the bad ones, be with the trustworthy ones, don't be with someone who doesn't know his religion and will give you many things that are not Islamically acceptable as it might be </span><span class="c1">bida`</span><span class="c3">, innovation. We have to keep our Shari`ah strict and pure.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3"> </span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an:</span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Qul in kuntum tuhibboona 'Llaaha fattabi`oonee yuhbibkumullaahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum w 'Allaahu Ghafooru 'r-Raheem.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. </span><span class="c3">(Surat Aali-'Imraan, 3:31)</span><p><p class="c0 c5"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">Allah (swt) is saying to Muslims and to all humnanity, including non-Muslims, “If you love Me, follow what Muhammad says.” It means if you really love Allah, then follow Muhammad (s) and Allah will forgive you your sins. And what did the Prophet (s) say? It is very simple: “If you commit a sin, immediately make </span><span class="c1">istighfaar</span><span class="c3">.” D</span><span class="c3">on't think we don't do sins; no way, everyone might make a sin in every way.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3"> </span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">We cannot say that Sayyidina Adam (a) sinned and Allah (swt) knows best, but he is </span><span class="c1">ma`soom</span><span class="c3">, infallible. We say he ate from the tree about which Allah (swt) said, “Don't eat from that tree!” There is a wisdom in his eating from that tree, to show us that we are helpless by ourselves. If Allah (swt) leaves us to ourselves we might not follow Him or Islam, we might follow our ego and desire, which is not correct as it might let us fall into hypocrisy.</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c6"><span class="c10">اية المنافق ثلاث اذا حدث كذب واذا وعد اخلف واذا اتمن خان</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Ayata ‘l-munaafiq thalaath idhaa hadatha kadhdhab, wa idhaa wa`da akhlafa,wa idhaa atumina khaan.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">(The Prophet (s) said,) “The signs of the munaafiq, hypocrite, are three: if he speaks he lies; if he promises he breaks it; and, if you entrust him with something he betrays you</span><span class="c3">.”</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">T</span><span class="c3">he signs of a hypocrisy are three and you can see them around you. We don't want to be hypocrites and we ask Allah (swt) not to let us fall into hypocrisy! “If he talks he lies.” Now think, if we talk and it is lying, and the Prophet (s) prohibited lying, and many of us--perhaps not those here, may Allah (swt) make everyone here clean--but many people lie. </span><span class="c1">Idhaa hadatha kadhdhab</span><span class="c3">. And on the Day of Promises, we promised Allah (swt) to fulfill our oath when Allah (swt) asked us, “Am I not your Lord?” and we said, </span><span class="c1">Bala</span><span class="c3">,</span><span class="c3"> “Yes, truly!” and when we came to </span><span class="c1">dunya</span><span class="c3">, did we keep what we said? That is why Allah (swt) sent Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because you are an honorable </span><span class="c1">ummah</span><span class="c3">. </span><p><p class="c6"><span class="c10">كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Kuntum khayra ummatin ukhrijat li’n-naas taamuroona bi’l-ma`roofi wa tanhawna `ani’l-munkari wa tu’minoona billaah.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">You are the best of people evolved for Mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. </span><span class="c3">(Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:110) </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">B</span><span class="c3">e united, and you are the best </span><span class="c1">ummah </span><span class="c3">sent to humanity, and you call to good and forbid what is bad. And the Prophet (s) said, “In the Signs of the Last Days,”</span><span class="c1"> la-</span><span class="c1">taamuroona bi’l-ma`roofi wa la-tanhawna `ani’l-munkar</span><span class="c3">, calling for the good and forbidding the wrong. People might ask, “It seems good.” Look at what Hudhayfa (r) related from the Prophet (s). The Prophet (s) is giving an oath and we are saying, “</span><span class="c1">Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah</span><span class="c3">! We believe what you say without giving an oath. We are your lovers and your brothers, where you said, ‘I love to see my brothers, those who believe in me and never saw me.’”</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3"> </span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">He (s) said, “You are going to call for good and prohibit wrong-doing, and it is not far off that Allah (swt) will send on you punishment and you will say, ‘</span><span class="c1">Yaa Rabb,</span><span class="c3"> take it away!’ and Allah (swt) will not respond.” Why? Because we are not supporting </span><span class="c1">haqq</span><span class="c3"> and </span><span class="c3">Muslims have to support </span><span class="c1">haqq</span><span class="c3">;</span><span class="c3"> </span><span class="c1">Haqq </span><span class="c3">is to live in peace and to put in your heart the love of Allah (swt) and love of the Prophet (s), but we are putting love of ourselves before love of Allah (swt) and love of our Prophet (s)! We try to do everything that benefits us and we don't care for the rest. And that is why the Prophet (s) said, “You are going to ask Allah (swt) to remove punishment and He doesn't respond.” So let those who have hearts and minds have </span><span class="c1">taqwa</span><span class="c3">. </span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللّهُ وَاللّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Ittaqullah wa yu`allimakullah.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Fear Allah and Allah will teach you. </span><span class="c3">(Surat al-Baqarah, 2:282)</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">F</span><span class="c3">ear Allah and have </span><span class="c1">taqwa </span><span class="c3">and Allah (swt) will teach you. </span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">Wa `allamnaahu min ladunnaa `ilma.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">And We had taught him a (certain) knowledge from Our Presence. </span><span class="c3">(Surah al-Kahf, 18:65)</span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">“</span><span class="c3">We have taught him from our heavenly knowledge.” So the Muslims, we are </span><span class="c1">inshaa-Allah </span><span class="c3">good Muslims, but let’s continue the hadith of hypocrisy because we need to be away from it and to not fall in the trap of Shaytan. The one who has hypocrisy, “if he says something he lies,” and “if you trust him he betrays you.” That is a hypocrite, so we have to be very careful. We don't want to interfere with anyone else, but interfere in yourself and say to your ego, “Don’t put me down!” Try to purify yourself and reach </span><span class="c1">Tazkiyyat an-Nafs. </span><span class="c3">If</span><span class="c3"> you are trusted you betray the trust: </span><span class="c3">Allah (swt) entrusted us with the Holy Qur'an, so read the Holy Qur'an! </span><span class="c1">I</span><span class="c1">nna ad-deena `indallahi al-Islam</span><span class="c3">, a</span><span class="c3">nd then </span><span class="c1">idha wa`ada akhlaf</span><span class="c3"> , “If he promises something he does not fulfill it.” And too many Muslims do it and people around the world say something to you and you do something else. </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">We don't want to fall into the trap of Shaytan! That is why Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an: </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c4 c0"><span class="c10">وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىمَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَى وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىإِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى </span><span class="c7"> </span><p><p class="c0 c12"><span class="c1">Wa ‘n-najmi idhaa hawaa maa dalla saahibukum wa maa ghawaa wa maa yantiqu `ani ’l-hawaa in huwa illa wahyun yoohaa.</span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c1">By the star when it is shining, your companion is neither astray nor being misled, nor does he say anything of (his own) desire; it is no less than inspiration sent down to him. </span><span class="c3">(An-Najm, 53:1-4) </span><p><p class="c5 c0"><span class="c3"></span><p><p class="c0"><span class="c3">Allah (swt) is making an oath that whatever the Prophet (s) brings is </span><span class="c1">wahiyy</span><span class="c3">. We are coming every week to pray here and that is a sign that we have love to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s) in our hearts.
