Guest from South Africa

Sultan al- Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al Haqqani

1 April 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: We are living in the last part of `Akhir az-Zamaan, the Last Days. Do you have `ulama there (in South Africa)?

Guest: Yes we do, but they are mostly Wahhabi.

Mawlana Shaykh: Do they not believe in Akhirah?

Guest: They do believe in Akhirah, but they are corrupt.

Mawlana Shaykh: Allah Almighty has said, “Do as you like! I have sent My orders to you, whether you keep them or not. I will give My judgment for you!” There were no Wahhabis or Salafis at the time of the Prophet(s). There was only Ahlu ’l-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah, yes? Those people (Wahhabi and Salafi) work for Shaytan, not for Allah.

Mashaa-Allah you have noor, lights, coming on your face. Alhamdulillah, I am happy to meet you! I have been to South Africa once or twice. It is a good place and the people are good also. And there are tariqahs, alhamdulillah! Tariqah is the path of seeking the pleasure of Allah. We do not intend to do anything against the holy orders of Allah. They may object against the people of tariqah, particularly Naqshbandis, but we are only trying to keep sunnat ar-Rasool (s).

Learning must go on. The Prophet (s) said that we must keep learning from the cradle to the grave! But people now are being cheated. So many wrong people come and want to change our `aqeedah, beliefs, as we are Ahlu ’l-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah. The Wahhabis are a handful of people, but they are working with their money. No one is really following them, only through money! Alhamdulillah, thousands and millions of people are Ahlu ’l-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah.

Are your ancestors `alims, religious scholars? Mashaa-Allah, your face is good. Are you making dhikr in your city?

Guest: Yes.

Mawlana Shaykh: Do you do it in your house? No, you must go around! For example, first start by doing it in houses and private places, not for common people. Then, we must get in touch with common people; we must bring the masses to Islam. Therefore, I ask whoever comes to me about where they make dhikr. If you do it at home some people may come, but some people might feel shy and not come. Do dhikr in private places. Are there, mashaa-Allah, five million or more people in your city?

Guest: More!

Mawlana Shaykh: Seven million, ten million?

Guest: No, more.

Mawlana Shaykh: Fifteen million, mashaa-Allah! Every week, you may rent a hall for two hours (for dhikr). You may find a council or church halls, or some space in coffee shops. You can rent them for two hours. What do they charge? £50 or £30? That is nothing! Put up signs there such as, “Free Healing Center,” “Free Interfaith Discussion Center.” Allow interfaith discussions among all kinds of believers for free. Give free books, brochures, tea, and (Sufi cultural) dancing! Yes. Put up many Islamic pictures about Islamic civilization. Tell them about Islam and how Islam came into a bad condition when Muslims started following western countries, and Allah Almighty calls people to be together, but people have made so many sects and have lost the main way and direction. We are only asking for the pleasure of Allah, nothing else!

Qaroon was always saving and he came down. Allah is giving, so you must also give! Make people happy. Look at those shaytanic people, dictators, tyrants and their descendants, who say, “We are keeping our places, we are not going!” Why? Do you have that continent written as yours, are you the owner? Why are you keeping it and people have nothing to eat, drink, dress, or a means to look after their ill ones? They are doing their worst for the people, only looking after their worst egos, and the ego is like Shaytan!

Do you like Lefke?

Guest: I like you! I came to see you and to learn from you! (Mawlana Shaykh smiles)

Mawlana Shaykh: There are so many creatures and Creations. Nobody or nothing can stand by itself, but Allah makes them stand up. Do you understand what the high level of belief for believers is? It is to always be with Allah! Don’t say, “I am one and He is another one.” No, everything belongs to Him. When He wants to bring something into existence, He says, “Be” and it comes into being!

Who is your teacher?

Guest: You!

Mawlana Shaykh: La ilaaha illa-Llah. May Allah grant you a long life!
