Who is Bankrupt?

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

26 May 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

Suhbah before Khatm

As-salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. I think it is too late to begin suhbat, so we will begin directly with dhikrullah, as suhbat will take a long time, so maybe after seven more years? Allah knows.

Allah (swt) revealed to His Prophet (s) a hadith that I will mention, and then begin directly.

`an Abi Hurayrah (r) anna rasoolullahi (s) qaala atradoona maa al-muflis? Qaaloo al-muflis feenaa man laa dirham lahu wa laa mataa`. Faqaala inna’l-muflis min ummatee man yaatee yawm al-qiyamati bi-salaatin wa siyaamin wa zakaatin wa yaatee wa qad shatama hadhaa wa qadhafa hadhaa wa akala maala hadhaa wa safaka dam hadhaa wa daraba hadhaa fa-yu`tee hadhaa min hasanaatihi fa in fanayta hasanaatahu qabl an yuqdaa maa `alayhi aakhadha min khataayaahum faturihat `alayhi thumma turiha fi ’n-naar.

The Prophet (s) said:

Do you know who the muflis (bankrupt one) is? The muflis from my Ummah is one who comes on the Day of Judgment having performed prayer, fasting, and giving zakaat. However, along with all of this, he abused this person and slandered that person, ate the wealth of this person and unlawfully spilled the blood of that person. These people will take from his good deeds. If, however, his good deeds become exhausted, then their sins will be put upon him and he will be thrown into the Fire. (Muslim and Tirmidhi)

What do we take home from this? Everything we hear, we have to take home and think about it, tonight. It means someone is praying and fasting and (still there is) no `amal for him! that is big. What Prophet (s) meant is, why did that person lose his `amal? (He lost it) because of too much backbiting among the ummah. Too many people speaking on (against) each other and people don't like each other; they speak on someone and say something that is not true. When rumors are spread, everyone far (and wide) begins to believe them and spread them further, and then Shaytan takes them like the wind and they become a reality.

That (bankrupt) person was involved in spreading a false accusation against his Muslim brother, so he lost his `amal. May Allah (swt) support us and protect us and give us good times with Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, and give him long life and give us long life!

[Khatm]

Next week, Thursday will be 1st Rajab, and that night will be Laylat al-Raghaa’ib and inshaa-Allah Mawlana might present the hair of the Prophet (s). But most important, sometimes we are allowed to say and sometimes we are not allowed to say, but this whole section from there to there (in Mawlana Shaykh's maqaam) was like the shrine of the Prophet (s), from this side to that side, and we have been allowed and honored to do ziyarah to the Prophet (s)! That happened and it rarely happens, and sometimes it happens, and we have permission to say, and sometime we don't have permission. Whoever was in this majlis tonight saw the Prophet (s), and that means he entered to his cave and entered his arms, and that means under his shafa`ah!

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
