Suhbah after `Asr at Jamia Ghausia Masjid

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah, nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`alaa fee haadha 'l-masjid.

Ati`oollaha wa ati`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafa 'l-Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

We are meeting here today for the third time. After Zhuhr, we spoke about the introduction and importance of dhikrullah and mentioned some ahadith of the Prophet (s) regarding this topic. But now we will discuss the importance of salawaat on Prophet (s), and the Greatness that Allah (swt) has given especially to him. We have mentioned in the previous sessions that undoubtedly everything in this universe that Allah created, heavens and earth, is making tasbeeh, but we are not seeing or hearing it as we are blind and deaf. However, there are a few who can hear and see, the evidence of which is the Holy Qur’an:

أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Alaa inna awliyaaullaahi laa khawfun `alayhim wa laa hum yahzanoon.

Behold! Verily on the Friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.

(Surat al-Yunus, 10:62)

Allah (swt) is saying, “They must not be sad nor should they have fear.” Fear of what? It means Allah is going to give you what you desire. “Ask Me, I will give you what you want.”

Id`oonee astajib lakum.

Supplicate to Me and I will give you! (Surat al-Mu’min, 40:60)

This verse is inclusive for everyone, but is also exclusive for others. We all make du`a to Allah (swt) to help us with our problems, “Yaa Allah, open for us Your Door and help us!” But if a Friend of Allah asks, he will get what he wants.

Man `adaa lee waliyyan faqad aadhantahu bi ’l-harb.

(Allah [swt] said) Whoever comes against my wali, I declare war on him.

(Hadith Qudsi; Bukhari, from Abu Hurayrah)

“If anyone comes against My awliya, I will declare war on them!” Allah’s War is not like ours! His War can take revenge and destroy entire cities, countries, and even this entire world!

Idhaa zulzilati ’l-ardu zilzaalahaa.

When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion. (Surat al-Zalzalah, 99:1)

Allah can take revenge and no one can ask Him why. After He mentioned, “Don’t declare war on one of My Awliya,” He wants to give a description of awaliyullah, so Prophet (s) mentioned a Holy Hadith on the description of awliyaullah and what Allah (swt) gave them:

أولياء الله تحت قبابي لا يعلمهم غيري

Awliyaa’ee tahta qibaabee, laa ya`lamuhum ghayree.

My saints are under my domes; no one knows them except me. (Hadith Qudsi)

So first awliya are mentioned as His Friends, Allah puts that stamp on it, and then, “If you come against them, I am going to whip you!” And He is whipping the Muslim ummah because they once loved their religion, their shuyookh, and Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah, but are now running after people who are giving them just a handful of money, making Islam a business! They praise those who give them money, whoever can give money is taken to visit the Shaykh, while others are not allowed. Why not? Prophet (s) was with the poor and destitute.

Some people from Quraysh came to him saying, “We will give you anything if you leave these people.”

Prophet (s) said, “No! What will I say to Allah?”

You cannot only accept the ghani, rich, and leave the poor, you must give everyone their respect, rich and poor alike! The poor worshipper receives more respect than the rich one who does not worship. Allah (swt) is saying, “I declare war on those who come against one of My Friends!” When Nimrod came against Sayyidina Ibraheem (a), what did Allah do?

Yaa naaru koonee bardawn’ wa salaaman `alaa Ibraaheem.

O fire! Be cool and a means of peace for Abraham. (Surah Ibraheem, 21:69)

Allah (swt) destroyed Nimrod’s fire by only sending Jibreel (a) to cool the fire and save Ibraheem (a); the fire was burning, but there was no heat! Allah ordered the fire to be cool, not very cold or freezing. Similarly, by His Grace, Allah saved Sayyidina Nuh (a), Sayyidina Musa (a), Sayyidina `Isa (a), and all other Prophets (a). Allah is saying to Prophet Muhammad (s), “Tell them not to come against My Awliyaullah as they are My Servants!”

Wa laa yazaala `abdee yataqarabu ilayya bi’ n-nawaafil hatta uhibbah. Fa idhaa ahbaabtahu kuntu sama`uhulladhee yasma`u bihi wa basarahulladhee yubsiru bihi, wa yadahulladhee yabtishu bihaa wa rijlahullatee yamshee bihaa.

My servant does not cease to approach Me through voluntary worship until I will love him. When I love him, I will become the ears with which he hears, the eyes with which he sees, the hand with which he acts, and the legs with which he walks (and other versions include, “and the tongue with which he speaks.”). (Hadith Qudsi, Bukhari)

If Allah loves someone, what will happen? Prophet (s) said:

Anaa jaleesu man dhakaranee.

I sit with him who remembers me. (Ahmad, Bayhaqi)

Say “Allah!” This is the reward for mentioning Allah by name, but what about loving Him? He didn't express that as it is a hidden secret. What Allah (swt) gives to the one who loves Him, only Allah and His Prophet (s) know best. So Prophet (s) said in that Holy Hadith, “As long as My Servant approaches Me through voluntary worship, I love him.” The description of that love is that He is the ears you can hear with, that everything is making tasbeeh, but now you cannot hear or understand it, but Allah says, “If you approach Me through voluntary worship, I will make you hear what others cannot.” Hear what? “I will give him a power of hearing from My Secret Knowledge that will enable him to hear everyone talking, even if they are behind a wall.”

Today they have instruments that help people hear sound from hundreds of yards away. Do you think Allah (swt) did not give His Awliyaullah heavenly instruments to hear what people are saying behind walls? Do not underestimate awaliyullah. When Allah describes them as, “I will become their hearing with which they can hear what no one else can!” They know how many pebbles there are outside, as they can hear their tasbeeh and also the tasbeeh of leaves on trees! Allah will give you that, but you must approach Him through voluntary worship, not only obligation. Don't think you are doing Allah a favor by praying five times a day as the favor is in fact for yourself! Allah (swt) is not in need of your prayers. “If you are a Muslim, you must pray five times a day,” ati`oollah, “Obey Allah,” and we say, sami`na wa at`ana, “we hear and we obey.” Allah is saying, “I will be the eyes he can see with,” meaning He will give power to the eyes, vision that will enable you to see what others cannot.

In this masjid, do you see anything other than people? No, we cannot see, but Prophet (s) said in a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayra (r):

Inna lillaahi tabaarak wa ta`ala malaa’ikata sayaaratan fudulan yatabi`oona majaalis adh-dhikri, fa idhaa wajadoo majlisan feehi dhikrun qa`udu ma`hum.

Surely there are some noble angels of Allah (swt) who conduct patrolling in search of gatherings of remembrance (majaalis adh-dhikr). When they find such a gathering, they join and sit with them.

(Sahih Muslim)

Allah (swt) sends angels to look for a masjid or a place where people are sitting in association, such as this one, and sit with them and praise Allah’s Names and Prophet’s (s) names with them. Do you see them? No, simply because you are blind, as undoubtedly Prophet (s) speaks the truth! By Allah's Power and Prophet’s mercy, they can see and hear. Prophet (s) asks, and Allah hears and gives. If Prophet (s) mentioned that hadith, it means he requested that from Allah (swt), Who revealed it because it is a Holy Hadith, “Yes I am giving, but let them come to Me.” We are sitting in this association today, showing Allah (swt) that we are coming to Him, so then Allah is happy!

Does Allah smile? Yes He does. Prophet (s) said, Rabbee dhahik, “I saw My Lord laughing and smiling.” Allah (swt) is so happy with His Servants who are coming together only for Akhirah and His Love! So awliyaulllah can hear the tasbeeh, but of what? Is it angels, jinn, leaves, or trees? Who is closest to us?

Wa nahnu aqrabu ilayhi min habli ‘l-wareed.

And We are nearer to you than your jugular vein. (Surat al-Qaaf, 50:16)

Allah (swt) is telling us that He is very close to us. Say, “Yaa Allah!” He (swt) replies, “Yaa `abdee! what do you want!” “Yaa Allah, I want Your Love!” Allah says, “Alright, take it! Be good with people, don’t break their hearts!” Prophet (s) never yelled or screamed at anyone or made anyone unhappy. He greeted everyone with a beautiful smile, with love and a nice story, such as when the Bedouin came from the desert asking Prophet (s) about the Day of Judgment, and Prophet (s) wanted to teach the Sahaabah (r).

(As narrated in the hadith) the Bedouin asked, “When is the Day of Judgment, yaa Rasoolullah?” Prophet (s) asked, “What have you prepared for it?”He replied, “I am coming to you with no `amal, such as prayers or fasting; only with my love, because I love you, muhabbatak yaa Rasoolullah!

Prophet said, “It is enough, yuhshar al-maruw ma` man ahab, each person will be resurrected with the one he loves.” So if you love Prophet (s), you will be resurrected with him.

Where do you hear the first dhikr? How many cells do we have in our body? Dhikrullah begins with all the atraaf: arms, hands, legs, back; hence, everywhere.

Wa in min shay'in illa yusabihu bihamdih.

And there is not a thing but celebrates His praise! (Surat al-'Israa, 17:44)

How many elements are we created from? First there are at least three trillion cells, then the formation of those cells makes the body! For example, the kidney is a small piece of flesh in our body and its’ function is to remove poison from the body and sustain all the vitamins and minerals. When someone has kidney failure, they get help by dialysis, a man-made machine that cannot perform the way a kidney naturally does, which is why patients on dialysis must replenish themselves by taking vitamins and minerals. Subhaan-Allah, that small piece of flesh has nearly one-million holes and is cleansing your entire system! Also, each of our three-trillion cells are making a tasbeeh each different from the other. If it is for Ummat an-Nabi (s), it will be written for Ummat an-Nabi (s) and not for non-Muslims, but the cells are still making tasbeeh, as they are under the heavenly khitaab, Allah’s Address, that everything makes tasbeeh.

That is why you should not throw away your nails after you cut them. Some eat them and some women grow them long and paint them white; however, Allah doesn't like that fashion because Iblees and his soldiers hide themselves from the heat of the sun under people’s fingernails and toenails, so don't grow your nails long. Order your wives to cut their nails. Did you see the Prophet (s) with long nails?

Everything in our body is involuntarily praising Allah, and awliyaullah can see and hear that. Prophet (s) said, wa lisaanahu Alladhee yatakalamu bihi, “I will give him a tongue with which he will speak non-stop day and night about heavenly matters, because he approached Me through voluntary worship. I will be the hand he works with, and I will give him strength in his feet to make him walk on Siraatu 'l-Mustaqeem.”

We will continue with that tomorrow. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
