Glorify Your Lord and Be Among Those Who Prostrate

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

30 March 2013 New Jersey

Maghrib Suhbah at Private Residence

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammadin wa `alaa aali Muhammadin wa sallim.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

Ma kulli maa yatamanahu al-marraw yudrikahu

tajree ar-riyaahu bimaa laa tashtahee as-sufunu.

Not everything we wish for will we achieve,

boats in the sea sail according to the wind,

not according to their wills.

Don’t agitate yourself too much about what you could not do as what is written is what will happen, and what is written is that we do dhikr first.

(Khatm.)

Anything related to the Prophet (s) becomes holy. The Ottomans used to cover the Holy Grave of the Prophet (s) with a cover and Shaykh Khairuddin has been able to obtain one such cover and so each one may pass by it to take that barakah and then move to the back.

(Ziyarah to Holy Cover of the Rawdat ash-Sharifa)

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Mashaa-Allah more and more people are coming to your house and it is going to be smaller and smaller. The place is becoming smaller, we have to buy something, I have told them to look for a building but I think that they are lazy. I asked one of them and I asked the other, but no answer. Inshaa-Allah if you find a place within our range, it can work out. If you find anything and we will come and see. All those doctors they make 250,000, 500,000, one million...Doctor became white because no money! (Much laughter.)

As we said before in the previous suhbah, you hear many people, `ulama, many scholars go on the minbar and say, “Leave dunya, dunya is not going to benefit you.” Do you hear that or no? And is that true or not? If it is true, why did Allah (swt) say in Holy Qur’an:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana aatinaa fi ’d-dunya hasanatan wa fi ‘l-aakhirati hasanatan wa qinaa `adhaba ‘n-naar.

Our Lord, give us in this world (that which is) good and in the Hereafter (that which is) good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Surah al-Baqarah, 2:201)

It means there is something there. It means to try to make something for your family and children that is enough for them, and if you exceed that, then look for your Akhirah, spend it there. Because He mixed them: Rabbana aatinaa fi ’d-dunya hasanatan wa fi ‘l-aakhirati hasanatan; He made al-Akhiraha `atafa `alaa ’d-dunya, how do you say this in English? He added the pronoun, “waw,” to Akhirah and He said “dunya,” He put Akhirah along with dunya. It means if you want Akhirah then make millions, no problem, take more dunya and spend it in the Right Way, as Allah loves that. There are many awliyaullah and scholars, `ulama, sincere people, and pious, sincere people who are rich, Allah gave them. But He is trying them also: are they going to give for Akhirah or keep that money for dunya? If you are giving for Akhirah then your dunya becomes Akhirah, it becomes Jannah. Then Allah does not judge you, as you took what you needed and gave for what Allah and His servants needed. What did the Prophet (s) say?

`An Abi’d-Darda sami`tu Rasoolullahi (s) yaqool: “Maa oohiya ilayya an akoona taajiran wa laa ajma`a al-maala mutakathiran wa laakin oohiya ilayya an ‘sabbih bi-hamdi Rabbika wa kum min as-saajideen.’”

Abu Darda (r) related that the Prophet (s) said:

Allah did not reveal to me to make trade of Allah’s Words or to collect wealth, but He revealed to me, “But celebrate the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.” (Surat al-Hijr, 15:98-99)” (ibn Mardawayh and ad-Daylami)

Since it was not revealed to Prophet (s) to accumulate money, it means it is not necessary for the whole ummah to accumulate money over money (beyond one’s needs).

He did not say, oohiyya ilayya an ajma` al-maal wa kun min at-taajireen, “Collect the money and be from the business people,” but rather, wa laakin uhiyya ilayya an ‘sabbih bi-hamdi Rabbika wa kum min as-saajideen,’ “Praise Allah (swt) and be from the people who make sajda.” Don’t try to be collecting money and be a merchant but say, sabbih bi-hamdi rabbika wa kum min as-saajideen, “Be from the people who make sajda.”

You know one (voluntary) sajda that we do to Allah (swt) will push Ankar and Nakeer--the two angels who come to the grave to question you--one mile. One sajda is enough to push Ankar wa Nakeer to a distance that they cannot approach you. One sajda in your life! Not the obligatory sajda of prayer--sajda of prayer you have to do it, you will be asked for your five prayers, but voluntary sajda. Like the sajda that comes in Holy Qur’an, and in Holy Qur’an there are many chapters in which you make a (voluntary) sajda or one sajda that you make by yourself, saying, “Yaa Rabbee, I am making this to You, yaa Allah,” and then say, “Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadu ‘r-Rasoolullah `alayhaa ahya wa `alayha amoot wa `alayha alqa’-Llah.” That sajda, Allah raises you to make sajda under His `Arsh, because Prophet (s) said, “Those mu’min, when they go to sleep Allah takes nine-tenths of their soul under `Arsh making sajda,” this is for people like that (indicating to the room full of people) who are sitting together to remember Allah; Allah blesses them with that level, with these rewards.

So the Prophet (s) is telling us, “You want to accumulate rewards for Akhirah? Then: sabbih bi-hamdi rabbika: ay subhaanallah, wa 'l-hamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illa-'Llah wa ‘l-Allahu Akbar,” four words, subhaanallah, wa 'l-hamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illa-'Llah wa ‘l-Allahu Akbar in the the Holy Qur’an. “If anyone,” Prophet (s) said, “recites these four words every day, they will go to Paradise with no account.”

Afdala ‘l-kalaam ba`d al-qur’an arba` wa hunna: subhaanAllah w ’alhamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illa-Llah w’Allahu Akbar.

There are four best words after Holy Qur'an: SubhaanAllah w ’alhamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illa-Llah w ’Allahu Akbar.

Look how much money they are giving us, but that is not money you can spend in dunya, it is only for Akhirah. Means how much Allah revealed to Prophet (s): verses of Holy Qur’an, ahadeeth, praises, Allah taught him in order to teach the ummah to save themselves in Akhirah. No one can say they have no sins, can you? This one maybe he can. There are seven who are beneath Allah’s Shade on the Day where there is no shade except His Shade.

`An an-nabiyy (s) qaala saba`tun yuzhillahum allahu fee zhillihi yawma laa zhilla illah zhillahu: al-imaamu ’l-`adil wa shaabun nashaa bi-`ibaadatillahi wa rajulun qalbuhu mu`allaqun fi ’l- masaajidi wa rajulaani tahaabbaa fillahi ’jtma`an `alayhi wa tafarraqaa `alayhi wa rajulun da`t-hu’mraatun dhaatu mansibin wa jamaalin fa-qaala innee akhaafullaha wa rajulun tasaddaqa bi-sadaqatin fa-akhfaahaa hattaa laa ta`lama yameenuhu maa tunfiqu shimaaluhu wa rajulun dhakara’Llaha khaaliyan fa-faadat `aynaahu.

There are seven persons whom Allah will shade on a Day when there is no shade but His: a just ruler, a young person who grew up in the worship of Allah, a person whose heart is attached to the mosques, two persons who love each other, meet and depart from each other for the sake of Allah,

a man whom a beautiful woman of high status seduces, but he rejects by saying, “I fear Allah,”

a person who spends in charity and conceals it such that his right hand does not know what his left hand has given, and a person who remembered Allah in private and he wept.

(Sahih Muslim, Book 5, Number 2248)

Seven groups of people whom Allah will shade on the Day of Judgement, where there is no shade except His Shade! Everyone, the Sun will be coming on the heads of people, burning them, melting the heads, it comes in over seventy yards, seventy dhira`ah, seventy arms-length is the distance between the sun and the head of a human being. So what happens to human beings? They melt, but they are melting miraculously : they feel the heat, that their brains are melting, their heads are melting, their eyes are melting, their faces are melting and their bodies are melting, but immediately they are being restored and appearing another time and melting again. And appearing and melting, from the heat of the Sun. How hot is the center of the Sun? Is it 55 million degrees Centigrade? What will happen to our heads if it approaches seventy yards?

One of the seven types of people that Allah will shade with His Shade on Judgment Day is a young one raised on love of Allah and love of the Prophet (s). If from childhood he does not fall into sin he will be one of those, and if he makes a sin and he immediately says, “istaghfirullah,” that when you recite it, it is a chain that Allah immediately, by power of angels come with it as a chain to wrap that shaytan that whispered to you and it is thrown into Hellfire; doesn’t exist anymore. Everytime you do something wrong there is one devil who is pushing you to do that. Say, “istaghfirullah,” and he is wrapped and thrown in Hellfire, so you save yourself and save the ummah. There is not only one devil after everyone, there are many, and those devils that they have...everything Allah will forgive! If you do a sin Dr. Iqbal, Allah will forgive, if I make sins Allah will forgive, but if I spread fitna and spread false rumors against you, there is no forgiveness! No forgiveness.

Yaa ayyuha alladheena aamanoo laa yas-khar qawmun min qawmin a`saa an yakoonoo khayran minhum wa laa nisaa’un min nisaa’in a`saa an yakunna khayran minhunna wa laa talmizoo anfusakum wa laa tanaabazoo bil alqaabi bi’sa ‘l-ismu ‘l-fusooqu ba`da ‘l-imaani wa man lam yatub fa oolaaika humu ‘zh-zhaalimoon.

O you who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others; it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former). Nor let some women laugh at others; it may be that the (latter are better than the (former). Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames; ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness (to be used of one) after he has believed and those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong. (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:11)

Yaa ayyuha alladheena aamanoo ’jtaniboo katheeran min azh-zhanna inna ba`da ‘zh-zhtanni ithmun wa laa tajassasoo wa laa yaghtab ba`dukum ba`dan ayuhibbu ahadukum an yaa’kula lahma akheehi maytan fakarihtumoohu wattaqoo ’Llaaha inna ’Llaaha tawwaabun raheem.

O you who have attained to faith! Avoid most guesswork [about one another] for behold, some of [such] guesswork is [in itself] a sin, and do not spy upon one another, and neither allow yourselves to speak ill of one another behind your backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would loathe it! And be conscious of God. Verily, God is an Acceptor of Repentance, a Dispenser of Grace! (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:12)

Don’t mock each other if you want to be considered mu’min, if you want people to say about you, “Mu’min,” don’t try to make a mockery of your brothers, laa yas-khar qawmun min qawmin. Not one group of people who will look at another and say they are cheating although it might be they are cheating, as the Prophet (s) said:

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "المؤمن مرآة أخيه"

al-mu’min miraatu akhee

The believer is the mirror of his brother.

So if they are looking with a fitna situation, then they are the ones Allah cursed, as they are spreading rumors and spreading fitna against his servants; Allah does not like that. Allah will not forgive that oppressor. Any other sin Allah will forgive because it is between you and Allah (swt). Allah is Ghafoorun Raheem, Forgiving, Merciful:

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Qul yaa `ibaadiya ’Lladheena asrafoo `alaa anfusihim laa taqnatoo min rahmatillaahi inna ’Llaaha yaghfiru ’dh-dhunooba jamee`an innahu huwa ’l-ghafooru ‘r-raheem.

Say, "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, for Allah forgives all sins for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surat az-Zumar, 39:53)

If I am saying something that is false against you then Allah will not forgive me until you forgive, then Allah will forgive me. Anyone who spreads false rumors against his brother will be falling into Hellfire on Judgment Day. Allah will bring him, and the one he oppressed, and He will ask the oppressor, “Why were you saying this?”

“Yaa Rabbee, I made a mistake!”

And He will say to the oppressed one, “Forgive him.”

And the oppressed one will say, “Laa yaa Rabb, I will not forgive him. He made distance between me and my family, how am I going to forgive him? He made a distance between me and my shaykh, how will I forgive him? He made a distance between me and one of your awliya, how am I going to forgive him?”

They do or they don’t? They do. “He made a fitna, a distance between me and Ummat an-Nabi (s), Prophet (s) will be upset with me, so how do I forgive him?”

Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo in ja’akum faasiqun bi naba'in fa-tabayyinoo an tuseeboo qawman bi-jahaalatin fatusbihoo `alaa maa fa`ltum naadimeen.

O you who believe! If a corrupt person comes to you with something wrong, ascertain the truth unless you harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have done. (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:6)

You have to check, if you heard a fitna you have to go to the bottom of it, without taking it as you heard it and you spread it somewhere else. It’s like a fly, these black flies in the jungle and desert jumping on bathroom waste and carrying microbes and viruses, from one place to another. That is like the siffat of that person who spreads false rumors! Allah (swt) said, fa-tabayyinoo, “check, verify it.” If you go to the shaykh and say your brother or sister in tariqah did something wrong, why do that? Is it to attract the love of the shaykh towards you? Does the shaykh not know? If he knows, are you not afraid? Do you know what the shaykh says? “I don’t know,” (out of) adab with Allah and His Prophet (s). He says, “I don’t know, I don’t use my spiritual power without permission, so whatever people tell me I consider it.” That is why we have to be very careful what we say and not dump everything bad or good on the shaykh.

One time we were at Grandshaykh's (q) house and there was war at that time between Israel and Syria, and he said, “Quickly open the radio,” as he saw the airplanes coming, his house is on top of the mountain and you can see everything from there. “Check! check!” We said (we were like you, young ones), “O my Shaykh, you know everything. You know better.”

He said, “Don’t say this! Awliyaullah don’t use a rocket to kill an ant, for what? Why should I use spiritual power to see what is happening if I can get it from the radio?” Be careful. That’s why he said, many times, teaching us, “Whatever I hear I consider. But if I consider it and it harms you, that is going to be a test for you: are you going to control yourself or not?”

They love, and they like to send you to a lab; among scholars there are labs that they send their students to, where they make experiments on their students; they send them all kinds of miseries and then check them. Allah (swt) made His Prophet (s) to run from Mecca to Madina and hide in a cave. Was Allah not able to carry him from Mecca to Madina on a buraaq as He sent him to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? But He was testing His Prophet (s). Was Prophet (s) able? Or not able? Able or not? Able! To reach in a moment! Doesn’t need time. Time is an imaginary dimension in physics. There is no time, because when you break time down to the fraction of a second 10-22 (10 to the power minus 22) then it becomes nothing but energy. No time. Time disappears. How does the soul come? All souls are in the Presence of Allah (swt), alastu bi rabbikum? qaaloo balaa! responding to, “Am I not your Lord”, saying “yea, verily!” Where were they? Where were all these souls? Were they in the womb of ladies? No, they were in that Bahru ’l-Arwaah, the Ocean of Souls which is inside the Ocean of Power which is the Qudrat al-Ilahiyy, al-Qaadir al-Muqtadir. They are there, Allah created them there. When He wants to send a soul, He does not send one soul, He sends every day hundreds of thousands of souls. And I read an article that said it is ten million a day. And someone checked Google and said it is 250,000 (souls) a day.

In any case, 250,000 or 10 million, Allah is sending them. And in the same moment you see thousands around the world giving birth. How did these souls reach immediately to the womb of their mothers, all together at the same time? With what speed, doctor? And forget the speed and how many are coming, but how does the soul know to which womb it has to go and not make a mistake? How does the soul know to which womb it has to go? Allahu Akbar! Not one but hundreds in the same time. Look in America here, go to a birth center, how many are in line giving birth? Might be ten or twenty. And how many hospitals are there in America? How many are giving birth? When did the soul come in? It came in nearly at the same time. With what speed? And all these that came did not mix up with each other, they know which womb to go, male and female. And if that is for the soul, how do we object to the Prophet (s) going to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? How these scholars object? How do these scholars say, “He went by spirit only,” and some say, “He was dreaming, it was a only a vision!” Istaghfirullah al-`Azheem. He went physically with his soul, with buraaq and with Jibreel (a), with Israfeel (a), with Malaku ’l-Mawt (a) (The Angel of Death.) And wherever he arrived, the angels were making a procession for him, welcoming him, from one Heaven to another Heaven, decorated not like our decoration...decorated with Knowledge, `Uloom al-Awaleen wa ‘l-Akhireen, and every Jannah he passed he knew which people are going to be inside, what they have done, how they will be judged, everything, and he prepared for them shafa`ah to be with him on the Day of Judgement.

[Naraay Takbeer! Allahu Akbar! Naraay Risaala! Yaa Rasoolullah! Naraay Haydari! Yaa `Ali! Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani! Zindabad! Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani! Zindabad]

Allahu Akbar! How shaykh? It is impossible.

What did Imam Nawawi (r) say? He said, “The Prophet (s) looked at the Divine Presence with his own eyes, the eyes of his forehead.” And he went and came--they say the speed of light, forget the speed of light, no more speed of light. The speed of light in the universe the stars’ light is moving at 300,000 kilometers per second and some of them that we are seeing are from 2 billion years ago, might be they are no longer there. Sayyidina Muhammad (s)...why did Allah send buraaq to Sayyidina Muhammad (s)? Was he not able to say, bismillah, and be there? He could, but He sent him a buraaq. Why did He send a buraaq? When you invite a president to a country, they send a car for him and take him on a tour of the city, and then they take him to the palace even if the palace is next to the airport. That is takreem, honor. Honoring that leader. What do you think about the leader of this universe?

So Allah (swt) sent buraaq, to say, “O My Angels, I am giving him the best of vehicles in Paradise, and as he is passing through, you make a procession for him!” And what was their welcoming speech when Sayyidina Muhammad (s) visited each Paradise? There must be a welcoming speech! Their welcoming speech was kalimatu ’t-tawheed wa ’s-salaat `alaa ’n-nabi (s). Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah! All of them were saying, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah. They were declaring their Islam, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah: that is Islam. They were declaring their submission. And the Prophet (s), with a speed that cannot be recognized, and even the soul comes with such speed that they are in a moment in the womb of his mother, and so the Prophet (s) with a speed we cannot know, was at the door of the first Heaven. And from the first Heaven to the second he was there in one moment. All that happened between the time the Prophet (s) moved from one heaven to another, then approached the Divine Presence, saw these Beautiful Divine Names and Attributes, was dressed with the knowledge of all the Beautiful Divine Names and Attributes, and then came back and still his mattress was warm! Allah stretched time for him, one second can be one million years, can anyone say, “No?” It is impossible. Allah says, “Kun Fayakoon,” He said to the time, “Kun! As much as you can stretch, stretch! My Power is with you.” The time stretched. One second to us might be one million years to them. And on the contrary, His time is longer: “One of My years is as one thousand years of what you reckon,” or “50,000 years of what you reckon.”

Ta`ruju 'l-malaa'ikati wa 'r-roohu ilayhi fee yawmin kaana miqdaarahu khamseen alfa sannat fasbir sabaran jameean inahum yarawnahu ba`eedan wa naraahu qareeba.

The Spirit and the angels ascend to unto Him in a day whose length is 50,000 years. But be patient (O Muhammad) with a comely patience. Lo! they behold it afar off While We behold it nigh.

(Surat al-Ma`arij, 70:4)

Cannot Allah make that day in Heaven which is counted on Earth as 1,000 years or 50,000 years to be one million heavenly years? Yes He can. So the Prophet (s) might have spent millions or billions of years (in travel) as Allah extended that time, and then when he came back on the buraaq, Allah shrank it, and the mattress was still warm. Allahu Akbar. So how do we dare, when the Prophet (s) says, Man al-muflis? Man al-muflis? Man al-muflis? O those who are hearing me, and to myself, and to them! ‘Who is the bankrupt, the poor one?’”

They said, “Yaa Rasoolullah the bankrupt one is the one with no money.”

And the Prophet (s) said, “No, he is the one with no `amal.”

They asked, “Even if he fasts and prays?”

He said, “Even if he fasts and prays, he has no `amal.” Hellfire is waiting because he is backbiting; you hear from him about another, and you go tell another and you believe it. Even if it is correct it is not your business, that is ghiba. But if it is incorrect that is nameema. Ghiba is to talk about something that has happened and spread it. Nameema is fabricating lies and spreading it to people, which are not true. For what? To make some deals! To make some deals. Deals of what? To give them control? Control of what? Control of something that is going to go and you are going to go with it. And you end up with nothing on the Day of Judgment.

No, the best thing, and I learned it from Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim, may Allah grant him long life, he said, qurbu sultan `ateshinoo suzan, “To be near the Shaykh is to be near fire.” No, keep away. Is it not better? Al-baab alladhee beejee minhu reeh suddoo wa ’stareeh, “Why worry about things going?” This is for all of us... “Don’t lock that door.”

Look at Sayyidina Uwais al-Qarani (r), what happened? You know the story? What is the story? What happened? His mother said to him, “Don’t leave me to go and see the Prophet (s); for Allah’s sake stay with me.” He was going to see Prophet (s) and his mother said, “For Allah’s sake, for Prophet’s sake, don’t go!” Allahu akbar. And he stayed back. What did he get in reward? He listened to his mother and didn’t go to see his Prophet (s). And when he decided to go, the Prophet (s) had passed away.

When Prophet (s) was dying, and this is a story from Grandshaykh (q), because awliyaullah, like many common people, they see the Prophet (s) in dreams and when you see the Prophet (s) in dreams telling you something that is correct! No question. He said he saw in a vision, when the Prophet (s) was leaving dunya he called Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), and said, “This is my robe, thawb,” the long dress that Arabs wear, like jalabiyya. When Prophet (s) was leaving dunya he was sweating, sweating, sweating, sweating, sweating, until his clothes became very wet and if you squeezed it like that, drops would come out, from the sweat he was sweating. Tell them not to repeat that story, quote me about it. He said to Sayyidina `Umar (r) and to Sayyidina `Ali (r), “When I leave dunya take that one and give it to Uwais al-Qarani.” Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), of course when the Prophet (s) passed away, of course they cried, they were busy, but later they took the robe and it was still wet, the sweat of the Prophet (s) doesn’t dry.

That is similar to when I had one hair of Prophet (s) in London, we were making ziyaarat and many Pakistani’s have Holy Hairs of the Prophet (s). And one had a long hair, it was in a jar, and there is the Holy Soil from the Grave of Prophet (s) in it too.

And I said, “Yunus.”

He said, “Yes?”

And I said, “Do you know what is coming to my heart?”

He said, “Yes.”

And I said, “Okay, go get scissors, I need half of it.”

And he didn’t say “No,” he did it, and gave me half. I put it in a tube.

And the next year I came and asked Yunus to bring the Holy Hair of the Prophet (s) as it was Mawlid. And he brought the hair and it had grown back to its original length. Everyone was surprised because they saw last time I cut half of it. And I wanted to make sure, so we brought a flashlight and I shined it on the hair, there was no shadow. There was a small pebble, to hold it, which showed a shadow but no shadow of the hair. It is Hayy, alive. So also the sweat of the Prophet (s) is alive.

So they took that robe, wrapped it and they went to where Prophet (s) told them they can find him, and they were asking for him. His name was `Abdullah, he was known as `Abdullah, and they were asking;

“Where is Uwais al-Qarani?” Asking, asking, then they asked a child, who was clever,

“Do you know where is Uwais al-Qarani?”

And he said, “I don’t know of Uwais al-Qarani, but can you describe him?”

And they said, “Yes, someone who wanted to go and see Prophet (s), his mother...”

And he said, “O that is `Abdullah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Come, come, I will take you!” He took them. And Sayyidina Uwais al-Qarani (q) was sitting on a rock looking after the sheep, and he had his back to them.

And as they came near he said, without looking, “Yaa `Umar bring me the amaanat.” He took it, stood up, kissed it and put it on his head. Sayyidina `Umar (r) always likes questions, he wants to ask, he wants to know, `Umar (r) said to him, “Yaa Uwais, did you see Prophet (s)?”

And Sayyidina Uwais (q) said, “I ask you the same question,” and he didn’t answer, he said, “Did you see the Prophet (s)?”

Sayyidina `Umar (r) said, “Of course I saw Prophet (s)! I was with him day and night.”

And Sayyidina Uwais said, “Yaa `Umar you did not see the Prophet (s), describe him to me.” So `Umar described his shamaail, different characteristics, eyes, ears etc.

Uwais said, “Everyone saw Prophet (s) like that. Yaa `Ali did you see the Prophet (s)?”

And he said, “Yes, one time in my life.” He said, “I saw Prophet (s), he called me when my eye was having problems, on the battlefield. And he looked at me and said, ‘Yaa `Ali, look at my belly and up.’ I looked and found the whole universe disappeared, and Prophet (s) filling the whole universe and his head is under the `Arsh. Then the Prophet (s) said, ‘Look from my belly and down.’” And Sayyidina `Ali (r) looked and found him filling, to his knees, the seven earths, and below that he did not see. “Then he said, ‘Look at all of me.’” He looked and found everything disappeared and wherever he turned his face he saw Prophet (s).

And Sayyidina Uwais (r) said, “Yaa `Ali, you are correct, you saw him.”

So Sayyidina `Umar said, “Yaa Uwais, what is this robe’s speciality that Prophet (s) sent it to you?”

He said, “Yaa `Umar, in this robe, Prophet (s) did not leave dunya without asking forgiveness on behalf of everyone of his ummah. And he sweated for everyone of his ummah, for each person, so each drop of sweat represents one person he interceded for when he was leaving dunya. And this robe, this dress, contains all of them, the whole ummah, from beginning to end, the sweat represents each member of his ummah, where the Prophet (s) interceded in front of Allah, that’s why he was sweating, ashamed from his Lord.” And he got acceptance that they are all under the shafa`ah of Prophet (s).

So, who is then the bankrupt? When you know these Islamic Principles, and you know that you are going to be in front of Prophet (s), ashamed, because you are spreading false rumors, and Allah will not forgive you because they involve the rights of people; your `amal:

وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَى مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاء مَّنثُورًا

Wa qadimnaa ilaa maa `amiloo min `amalin faja`alnaahu habaa’an manthoora.

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about. (Surat al-Furqaan, 25:23)

“We come to what they have done and we throw their `amal in their faces,” Allah said. That’s why their `amal is not accepted; let them pray as much as they like! Their `amal is not accepted. They are going to be asked and questioned:

`An abi hurayratata (r) anna rasoolullahi (s) qaala atradoona maa al-muflis? Qaaloo al-muflis feenaa man laa dirham lahu wa laa mata`. Faqaala inna ’l-muflis min ummatee yaatee yawm al-qiyamati bi-salaatin wa siyaamin wa zakaatin wa yaatee wa qad shatama hadhaa wa qazhafa hadhaa wa akala maala hadhaa wa safaka dam hadhaa wa daraba hadhaa fa-yu`tee hadhaa min hasanaatihi wa hadhaa min hasanaatihi fa in fanayta hasanaatahu qabl an yuqdaa maa `alayhi aakhadha min khataayaahum fa-turihat `alayhi thumma turiha fi ’n-naar.

The Prophet (s) said:

Do you know who the muflis (bankrupt one) is? The muflis from my Ummah is one who comes on the Day of Judgment having performed prayer, fasting, and giving zakaat. However, along with all of this, he abused this person and slandered that person, ate the wealth of this person and unlawfully spilled the blood of that person. These people will take from his good deeds. If, however, his good deeds become exhausted, then their sins will be put upon him and he will be thrown into the Fire. (Muslim, Ahmad, Tirmidhi)

So, let us pray for everyone to say, “Yaa Rabbee, we are all weak servants, us and them. Those who backbite us, we forgive them and we keep going, doing our job,” and try to close the door that the wind comes from, we don’t need to smell their bad smell, then you are going to fall into the dirty smell. No, stay in the perfumerie, al-`attaar, you will get some perfume on your hand. If you go to a blacksmith you get some fire sparkles on your body.

No, it is better to save ourselves and we say, “May Allah forgive us all, wa as-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

Wa qeela li-Salman al-Farsi awsinaa fa-qaala man istata` minkum an yamootu haajan aw ghaaziyan aw `amiran li-masjida rabbihi fal-yaf`al wa laa yamootanna taajiran wa laa khaa’inan.

They asked Salmaan al-Farsi to advise them and he said, “whoever among you is able to die on hajj or fighting as a soldier (against an aggressor) or building a mosque, then let him do so, but do not die as a trader nor as a traitor.

We are squeezed here, but on Day of Mahshar we will not be squeezed inshaa-Allah. And we are squeezed here because we are listening to something that makes us happy and on Judgment Day, inshaa-Allah we will not be squeezed but saved with no account and enter Paradise with no account!
